African Black Soap
African Black Soap
Not all soap is created equal. This one has centuries of proof behind it. Traditionally made using plant ash and natural oils, our African black soap has been used across West Africa for generations to cleanse, balance, and care for the skin. No synthetic additives, no harsh chemicals — just traditional soap made the way it has always been made.
What it does:
- Deeply cleanses without stripping the skin's natural moisture
- Balances oily and acne-prone skin naturally
- Gently exfoliates for smoother, clearer skin over time
- Suitable for face and body
- Naturally antibacterial — no harsh chemicals or synthetic additives
Our African black soap is traditionally made using plant ash and natural oils — the same method used across West Africa for generations. Key ingredients include plantain peel ash and cocoa pod ash, which give the soap its distinctive colour and natural cleansing properties.
No synthetic additives, no harsh chemicals, and nothing artificial. Just traditional soap made the way it has always been made.
On face:
Wet your face and work the soap into a lather using your hands or a face cloth. Apply gently in circular motions, rinse thoroughly, and follow with your preferred moisturiser.
On body:
Work up a rich lather and apply to damp skin. Rinse thoroughly.
Caring for your soap:
Keep your soap dry between uses to extend its life. Avoid leaving it sitting in water.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm Kernel) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Glycerin, Musa Paradisiaca (Plantain) Peel Ash, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Pod Ash
African black soap is naturally gentle but we recommend patch testing first if you have sensitive or reactive skin. Apply to a small area and wait 24 hours before full use. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use.
Yes. African black soap is suitable for both face and body. It is particularly effective for oily and acne-prone skin as it deeply cleanses without harsh chemicals.
Traditional African black soap is gentler than most commercial soaps. However if you have very dry skin we recommend following up with a moisturiser such as our raw shea butter or ADUN Body Butter after use.
The cleansing set includes the soap bar along with a bamboo soap dish and African net sponge — everything you need for a complete cleansing routine. This listing is for the soap bar on its own.
